Granite is an ideal material for long lasting borders and edges. This new granite edging offers a complete finishing touch for driveways, paths, lawn perimeters, patios and borders
Edging is essential to prevent the escape of the laying course material from under paving and helps to create a tidy finished look. It also helps to retain loose aggregates or paving materials and acts as a barrier to inhibit plant growth and mulch migration.
This edging is sawn on all sides with a textured top and front surface and has a 25mm bullnose to the leading edge. This edging is a great choice and offers a practical, aesthetically pleasing solution to most projects and gardens.

Material Information
Basalt Description:
Basalt is a dense, dark-coloured igneous (volcanic) rock that is commonly found in areas with volcanic activity. It is a popular material for paving due to its durability, slip-resistant surface, and attractive appearance. Basalt is similar in appearance to granite, however it has a slightly more fine-grained texture that comes in exceptionally dark grey to black shades. Basalt is a very hard wearing stone and tends to have a sparkle in sunlight due to the crystals formed during the volcanic heating and then cooling period. The surface is flat and even but is either bush hammered or flame textured to offer a non slip surface. These finishes are described in more detail below:
Bush hammered - This finish involves a mechanical process that creates a textured surface on the stone using a bush hammer tool. The tool has multiple pointed heads, similar to a meat tenderiser that strike the surface of the stone, creating a uniform textured finish. The resulting surface is rough, non-slip, and has a natural appearance.
Flame textured - Flamed basalt paving is a type of stone that has firstly been sawn flat and then subjected to high temperatures using a tool similar to a flame-thrower to create a unique water-weathered appearance and slip resistant surface. The process of producing flamed basalt paving involves exposing the surface of the stone to high heat, which causes the grains to expand and crack. The surface is then rapidly cooled with water, which causes the outer layer and softer minerals of the stone to flake off, creating a very natural looking stippled finish. Basalt paving is also known for its aesthetic appeal. Its dark colour and subtle texture can create a contemporary and sophisticated look in any outdoor space. It can be used to complement various architectural styles, from modern to traditional. Its unique qualities make it a popular choice for residential and commercial landscaping projects alike.
Basalt Colours:
The colours of basalt paving evoke a sense of earthy richness and depth, and the palette ranges from deep, velvety blacks to subtle greys and blues, with occasional flecks of shimmering silver or gold. The dark, lustrous black basalt stones exude an air of mystery and sophistication, and they are bold and striking, creating a dramatic contrast against lighter hues and adding a touch of elegance to any outdoor space. The dark colour can also have a calming effect, bringing a sense of grounding and stability to the environment. The occasional shimmering silver or gold flecks in basalt paving stones catch the light and twinkle like stars in the sky, adding a unique element to the paved area. Basalt paving is lighter in colour when dry than wet, being a warm grey colour when dry and rich black when wet. Compared to other natural stone materials, basalt has relatively even colouring and works well when combined with contrasting shades of granite, for example silver grey granite and black basalt.
Natural Stone Characteristics:
All natural stone products are unique and will vary in colour and texture, often showing distinctive markings, minor imperfections and may include mineral deposits such as iron and quartzite. Sizes are nominal and may vary and there may be dimensional tolerances affecting size and thickness in accordance with British Standards. Some paving manufacturers include the pointing allowance in the individual slab sizes whereas others include the pointing allowance in the overall pack coverage. The product images shown are as accurate as photographic processes allow and may appear differently in accordance with lighting conditions and screen calibration in addition to the natural variation occurring between batches. Images may not be a true representation of a particular product size, use or laying pattern. Descriptions provided offer a combination of the manufacturer's and our own opinion of the product's characteristics and features.
