Map out your Patio

Once you have purchased the patio circle for your outdoor space, take them out and lay in the position that you want. This should be where you want it to be when it is all finished. This allows you to decide if it is exactly what you imaged. Be sure to leave a gap between each tile. Once you are happy with the position, mark a line around the outside, a little bit away from the edge.

Preparing the Ground

Next, you want to pull up all of the tiles again, but leave in the centre flag and mark around it. Now is when you will be removing the top layer of your surface, such as your grass. How deep you dig will depend on the thickness of your patio circle, as well as leaving some room for the sand cement underneath. You want it to be level with your surface.

Laying Your Circle

Now you want to prepare your mortar mix. This is what is going to keep your patio circle nice and secure. For laying your tiles, start at the centre with your centre flag. From here, take your time and work around the circle, layer by layer. Tap down the tiles to secure them in place. Once you are finished, simply wait for everything to set. This will usually take at least 24 hours and be sure to cover everything up if it is due to rain. Then, you can fill the joints between your patio circle tiles. This is usually done with sand mortar mix, which you can sweep into the joints with a brush. All you have to do is polish your patio circle afterwards.

There you have it; a brand new and beautiful patio circle! It wasn’t too much hard work after all, was it?
